9 July - 7 November 2010 Ilbijerri (pronounced "il BIDGE er ree") is a Woiwurrung word meaning Coming Together for Ceremony. In 2010, Ilbijerri Theatre Company is proud to celebrate its twentieth anniversary by coming together with Bunjilaka at Melbourne Museum to present an exhibition of its achievements as the longest running Indigenous theatre company in Australia. Curated by Ben McKeown, the exhibition will feature elements of production sets, props, costumes and photography from throughout the company's rich and unique history. We invite you to join us in celebrating the power of Black voices telling Black stories, as we enter an exciting new era of Indigenous theatre - where the journey is one of discovery, and rules are simple: be BOLD, BLACK, and BRILLIANT. The exhibition opens 9 July and runs until 7 November. CLICK HERE to visit the Bunjilaka website for more. |
